Zisland Explorer: a tool of detected genomic islands by combining the homogeneity and heterogeneity properties

    Genomic islands among bacterial genomes undoubtedly plays an important role in expanding genetic materials and driving incipient speciation. Zisland Explorer is an unsupervised island annotation tool, which depends on an automatical segmentation algorithm. It splits genomic sequence into fragments by using GC-profile tool, and then core fragments will be excluded. We combine homogeneity and heterogeneity for the first time to predict islands in the rest of fragments. More details of this algorithm, please refer to our publication.
